Longarm Quilting
What to Expect
Entrusting your precious quilt top to another can be a daunting prospect, so rest assured yours is in good hands.
The first step will be a discussion about your top and whether you have any defined preferences for thread colour and quilting pattern. If no, then your style preference, or the quilt recipient's if different, will be taken in account and based on this several quilting patterns and thread colours that suit your quilt top will be suggested for you to choose from. No quilting will commence until your approval on thread colour and pattern are received, to be sure you are happy with the choices before proceeding. If you are close to Rutland, this discussion can take place in person, otherwise a phone call or video chat will be arranged.
Please print and complete the information sheet below and include it with your quilt top.

Preparing Your Quilt Top, Wadding & Backing
You'll be glad to hear that very little preparation is required to submit your quilt top for longarm quilting. Simply follow these basic guidelines:
- Your top, wadding and backing should be submitted as separate pieces, no pre-layering or basting is required.
- Ensure your wadding and backing are at least 8 inches wider and longer than your top. For instance, if your top measures 40 x 60 inches, your wadding and backing need to be at least 48 x 68 inches.
- If you have a thread colour and quilting pattern in mind please let us know, otherwise we are happy to recommend several thread choices and patterns to suit your top.
- The largest size we can accommodate is 95 inches on the shortest side. That means that the other side can be as long as you want, but the shortest side can be no more than 95 inches.
